Scams

Scams and identity theft are becoming increasingly more common in Washington County.  In an effort to help our citizens become aware of where to go for help, we have posted the following links to the Internet Crime Complaint Center and  the Consumer Website LooksTooGoodToBeTrue.com. If you feel you are a victim of identity theft, contact a relative, friend, neighbor, trusted advisor or the Washington County Sheriff's Office and make a report.  The Sheriff's Office handles all county issues and the Brenham Police Department handles issues within the city limits.
Local scams involve:

Foreign and domestic lottery "winner"
IRS
A family member in jail or in trouble with the law in another state
