Sheriff Hanak presents Deputy/Jailer Brandon Smith, Jail Sergeant Tammy Oberhoff, and Jailer Jonathan Walkoviak with Life Saving awards and certificates on 12-21-2018 for saving the life of a Washington County jail inmate on 11-22-2018.  Their training and dedication to their duties prevented a tragedy from taking place.

On 12-07-2018, Washington County Sheriff’s Jailer Nicholas Pfeffer graduated from the Texas A & M Engineering and Extension Service – 163rd Central Texas Police Academy.  Upon his graduation, he was transferred into the Patrol Division where he will begin the Field Training program.  Pictured with Deputy Pfeffer is Sheriff Otto Hanak.

Congratulations to Sgt. Mark Morales who recently received the MADD "Heroes of the Highway" award in recognition for his dedication and outstanding work in DWI enforcement in Washington County.

Effective April 7, 2017, Washington County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Sergeants Mark Whidden and Eddie Ocanas were promoted to the position of Lieutenant.  Lieutenant Whidden, with over 12 years of dedicated service and experience with the Washington County Sheriff's Office,  will supervise the Criminal Investigation Division while Lieutenant Ocanas, with over 19 years of service and experience with the Brenham Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office,  will supervise the Patrol Division.  Both men have dedicated their lives to providing law enforcement service to the citizens of our county and have done it professionally and in the most courteous way.  Sheriff Hanak and staff congratulates both men on their recent promotion and wishes them well in their future law enforcement endeavors.
